John Teague returns home next week.

Machell DePina, Human Resources director for the city of Keizer, confirmed this week a start date for Teague, a former longtime member of the Keizer Police Department who is returning as the new police chief.

Teague was selected out of a pool of 33 candidates to replace Marc Adams, who served as Keizer’s police chief for nearly 16 years before retiring at the end of August. Captain Jeff Kuhns has been serving as interim police chief since.

DePina said required background checks, psychological evaluations and drug tests have been completed.

“After confirming successful completion of these items, Chief Teague accepted our final offer on Friday (Sept. 13) and will move into his new office on Monday, Sept. 23,” DePina said.
