A 3-0 loss in Boise started the Volcanoes’ post-season play Tuesday.

Salem-Keizer came up with only three hits – singles by Tyler Horan, Leo Rojas and Ty Ross – against the pitching of Paul Blackburn and Zack Godley.

Blackburn, the winning pitcher, went seven innings with eight strikeouts, allowing two hits and no bases on balls. Godley, who recorded a save, had three strikeouts in his two innings.

The Hawks scored twice in the first inning. Kevin Encarnacion singled, and a double by Danny Lockhart drove him home. Lockhart went to third base on an error by right fielder Brian Ragira, the only error of the game. Yasiel Balaguert scored Lockhart with a sacrifice fly.

Chase Johnson, the Volcanoes’ starting and losing pitcher, lasted five innings. He gave up more hits than usual, six, but had six strikeouts and only one walk.
