The electronic speed signs recently placed on two Keizer roads may have you instinctively slowing down.

That’s the point.

Last month, Keizer Public Works crews put up electronic speed signs on Lockhaven Drive NE across from Countryside Christian Church and on Verda Lane NE, just north of the Salem Parkway.

“These are visual reminders for people to slow down,” said Sgt. Trevor Wenning, with the Traffic Safety Unit of the Keizer Police Department.

The one on Lockhaven, in a 35 mph zone, is a short distance from Interstate 5 and just down from a 45 mph speed zone.
