As the barometer continued to hover around 90 degrees, Terry Ricker was sweating.

It wasn’t for the obvious reasons, however.

No, the owner of Mr. Video at 5003 River Road North in Keizer knew his new business venture wasn’t ready yet, even though the temperature was perfect for it.

Ricker opened his LimeBerry Frozen Yogurt shop within the video store July 22. A ribbon cutting took place July 29, with a grand opening this Saturday, Aug. 3.

For months Ricker worked on creating space for the 15 flavors of frozen yogurt and 78 toppings. Meanwhile, possible sales were melting away.

“It killed me,” Ricker said of not being open during the July heat. “I should have done this earlier. Customers were coming in, asking when it would be open.”

Ricker’s store is the fourth LimeBerry franchise in the Salem-Keizer area…
