PASCO, WASH.,–The Volcanoes overcame a six-run deficit July 19 to down the Tri-City Dust Devils 10-7 in Pasco.

Salem-Keizer survived six errors by swinging hot late-inning bats and using relief pitching that resulted in newcomer Tyler Rogers’ first win. The victory, which included five runs in the ninth inning, evened the series at 1-1.

Although the Volcanoes scored the first run of the game, Tri-City came back with four runs in the first inning and three in the second. Tyler Hollick hit an infield single, went to third base on a single by Brandon Bednar and scored as Tyler Horan singled to left field.

In the bottom of the first, Alec Merhten hit a two-out single to left and went to second on Michael Tauchman’s ground ball single to right. The first of three errors by shortstop Jeremy Sy put Patrick Valaika on first and allowed Mehrten to score. Julian Yan drove in Tauchman and Valaika with a triple to left and scored on a throwing error by Sy.
