Linda Nelson was recently installed as the new president of the National Garden Club.

Just don’t expect to see a lavish garden at her Keizer home.

“Gardening has not been my top priority the last eight years, because I’ve been gone so much,” Nelson said. “Until last year, I mowed the lawn but now a friend does it.”

Nelson doesn’t expect her yard to get much attention in the next two years. Last month at the NGC annual national conference in Seattle, Nelson was installed as the organization’s 43rd president.

Being installed as president is the culmination of a eight-year process of serving in various vice president capacities. Nelson has also been on the NGC board of directors for 18 years and is past director of the organization’s Pacific Region.
