More than 400 McNary High School students took the big walk Friday, June 7, in the school’s 48th annual commencement ceremony.

Amid the smiles, hugs, oversized dresses and goofy headgear, the graduates heard from two student speakers and former Celtic teacher and former State Rep. Vic Backlund, who provided the keynote address at the request of the students.

Graduate Stacey Titchenal reminded classmates to greet the future with the same wonder and curiosity that got them to graduation.

“We must face the future one day, one step, one breath at a time, however, remember that child in all of us that doesn’t know how old we are,” she said.
