That time of year is almost done once again.

On Monday evening, Keizer City Councilors will hold a public hearing on the proposed 2013-14 city budget.

As approved by the budget committee – a group that includes councilors – the general fund budget is around $10 million. The total city budget is about $39 million, with a tax rate of $2.0838 per $1,000 of assessed value.

If approved Monday, the budget will be missing a key element tagged as a high priority by councilors: the addition of a police officer position.
