What could be greater than the Gubser Neighborhood Association?

How about the Greater Gubser Neighborhood Association?

The GGNA board voted at its May 16 meeting to update its name since its boundaries have been expanded. As voted on in April, the GNA has expanded to match the boundaries of Gubser Elementary School, which includes the Country Glen, Hidden Creek, Swingwood and Verda-Lockhaven-Chemawa neighborhoods.

“To extend our area and not do something with the name, when it covers other neighborhoods, maybe seems counterintuitive,” said Brad Coy, president of the GGNA. “The idea was to rename our organization Greater Gubser Neighborhood Association, which everyone liked.”

Coy said the slight name change is a logical step.

“It maintains the Gubser name, it still identifies with our history and it’s consistent with the Gubser Elementary boundaries,” he said. “It also recognizes the greater area and that we’re not just limited to the Gubser Neighborhood.”
