The McNary High School varsity track and field teams made district championships seem like an easy thing to achieve at the Central Valley Conference meet last week.

On their home field, Celt athletes claimed 10 individual event district titles and two relay team titles as the girls took first overall and the boys took second. The last time the girls won the district title was 2009; for the boys, it was the best finish since 1996.

Three athletes on the McNary squads, Daniel Brattain, Jessica Darras and Daysha Simms-Garcia, walked away two district titles each.

Simms-Garcia, a junior, not only repeated as the district champ in the 400 meter race, she set a new school record with a time of 57.79.
