The McNary High School varsity softball team is headed to the state playoff tournament after blanking Lake Oswego High School 14-0 Tuesday, May 14.

The Lady Celts started off the play-in game strong with catcher Kiana Villareal kicking off the Celtic scoring with a two-run homer in the first inning. The Laker defense barely got a rest en route to the loss.

The Lady Celts now have a brief respite before the state tournament, which begins Monday, May 20. They’ll enter into the fray as the 12th-ranked team in the state.

The win over the Lakers came after a stellar closing to Central Valley Conference competition for the Lady Celts.
