Ken LeDuc, who joined the Keizer City Council in January, has resigned.
LeDuc, who got into a heated argument with fellow councilor Dennis Koho during a budget committee meeting Thursday evening, posted a short resignation notice on his Facebook page late Friday morning, May 10. He also sent a short message to city attorney Shannon Johnson.
“To the Keizer city government, I resign my elected position on the Keizer City Council effective immediately,” LeDuc wrote.
Attempts to reach LeDuc for further comment were unsuccessful.
LeDuc won the Position 2 race last November over incumbent Brandon Smith, who ran as a write-in candidate.
Earlier this year, LeDuc was alleged to have yelled at an Eagle Scout parent. LeDuc denied the accusation, but the incident led councilors to look at forming a committee for self-policing purposes. That had already been scheduled to be one of the topics discussed at the May 13 work session.
