The McNary High School varsity softball team rebounded from a mini-slump to dole out crushing, five-inning wins over McKay and North Salem high schools, but an equally bruising loss to South Salem High School took the wind out of its sails.

“We’d been working on our hitting,” said Celt Megan Ulrey of the wins. “After the couple of losses, we just wanted it really bad.”

The Celts staked out their territory early in the game, running through the entire batting line-up in the first inning en route to a 7-0 lead and 16-0 win.

Kimi Ito and Paige Bouska went 4 for 4 in the outing, both had doubles and both chalked up two RBIs. Bouska also had a triple.

In the circle, pitcher Jordyn Hanson retired four batters and allowed only three hits in three innings.
