The search for new soccer fields in Keizer continues.

While the non-profit organization 25 fields for Oregon is still working on plans for a 25-field complex east of city limits, the Keizer Soccer Club (KSC) is looking to build three fields at city parks.

Jim Parent spoke to members of the Keizer Parks and Recreation Advisory Board last week, asking for the allocation of park System Development Charges (SDC) funds to help pay for a new primary soccer field at Claggett Creek Park, as well as two secondary fields at Keizer Rapids Park.

According to proposals handed out by Parent, the $15,000 in SDC funds being asked for at Claggett would be 19 percent of the $80,000 value of the project. At Keizer Rapids Park, $45,000 is being asked for, 29 percent of the $156,000 cost.

Parks Board members unanimously approved the request. The request is expected to be brought before the Keizer City Council on May 6.
