Typically, an officer or lieutenant leaving a police department after 25 years isn’t noteworthy.

In bigger departments, things continue on like usual.

In older departments, 25 years is just a fraction of time.

Things are a bit different with the Keizer Police Department.

Last summer officer Brian Hunter retired after more than 25 years. This weekend, Lt. Alan McCowan retires after 25 years with the department.

On top of that, Keizer police chief Marc Adams is retiring at the end of the year after a law enforcement career spanning 33 years – the last 16 of them in Keizer.
