The McNary High School varsity baseball team won one and lost one in its first week of play, but the quality of the opponents they faced had them ranked third in the state headed into a three-game week.

“We had some really clean defense,” said McNary senior Ty Wyatt. “We’ve only had two or three errors in the first two games of the season and that’s really good for the first games of the season especially when the weather isn’t that great.”

The boys squared off with Lake Oswego High School, March 13. The Lakers had a 1-0 lead headed into the fifth inning when McNary knotted the game 1-1.

The teams remained locked in a stalemate until the eighth inning when the Celts’ bats started getting hot.
