Hector Bartholomew (“Red”) McGougan passed away on March 6, 2013 in Salem.

He was born on December 16, 1923 in Los Angeles.  He was a 40-year resident of Oregon, and lived in Keizer the past 15 years.

McGougan is survived by sons Mike (Nita) of San Leandro, CA and Dean (Carol)  of Morro Bay, CA; and stepsons Michael Westfall of Stayton, OR and Willie Westfall of Salem, sister Patricia (William) Wilber of Granada Hills, CA, grandaughters Gigi (Steve) Moore, and Jill McGougan and her financee Lyndel Anunciado, grandsons Christopher (Andrea) and Eric (Flor). He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren, and 16 nephews and nieces.

He was also blessed with devoted friends Terry and Vivian Bless, Donna Arnett, Larry Klope, and Al and June Lemke. Also his workout group.

He was preceded in death by three ex-wives: Vickie (died 2001 in Keizer), Nellie (died 1985 in Roseburg) and Lillian (died in 1966 in Ontario, Ca).

At the time of his death “Red” was the oldest member of Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 398 Union with 70 years in good standing.  He was past president of the VOR.

An avid fisherman, he enjoyed deep-sea angling in Alaska trying to catch “the big one.”

A celebration of life will be held at 12 noon to 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 10, 2013, at 1947 Kinglet Way N.E. in Keizer.
