There was something fishy about the opening last Sunday.

That’s meant in a good way.

After several months of remodeling and waiting, Keizer’s Tropical Fish and Aquariums opened at 3986 River Road North on Feb. 17. The shop is owned and run by brothers Angel and Deno Madrigal.

“We’ve been pretty packed,” Deno said early this week. “We had this place fully stocked with fish on Sunday. A lot of those fish were gone by the end of the day.”

The Madrigal brothers started working on their building in November. A friend did fish-themed artwork inside on the redone walls. Once the water in the tanks was of the right mixture, the doors were finally opened.
