After much debate, members of the Keizer Parks and Recreation Advisory Board on Tuesday recommended board chair Richard Walsh be honored in some way at the Keizer Rapids Park Boat Ramp.

A motion to keep the facility’s current name while recommending council name something commemorating Walsh – not renaming the boat ramp but as an aka, a feature or an honor of type to mark his contribution – was approved 7-1, with Jake Martin casting a the dissenting vote.

Walsh excused himself from the discussion and voting.

The motion will next be voted on by the Keizer City Council for final approval.
