Top cop set to retire

From the time he was young, Marc Adams wanted to follow in the footsteps of his uncles and become a cop.

He did so.

After being involved in a shooting in May 1988, Adams wanted to become a police administrator.

He did so.

Now Adams, the 58-year-old police chief in Keizer since 1997, wants to retire.

He is doing so.

Adams said this week he will step down as police chief of the Keizer Police Department at the end of 2013.

Law enforcement figures in Texas tend to have a larger-than-life mystique about them. Adams, a Texas native, saw that through his own eyes.
