First there was the Keizer Iris Festival.

Now there’s a new IRIS in Keizer.

This is the Information Referral Internet Station kiosk rolled out recently by the Keizer Chamber of Commerce. One of the two kiosks is currently at Keizer Civic Center, while the other is at the Red Lion in Salem. A desktop using the same system is operational at the chamber office in Keizer Station.

Rob Miller, past president of the Keizer Chamber of Commerce, noted IRIS is designed to help keep people informed – particularly visitors to Keizer.

“It’s a virtual map,” Miller said. “You can click on it and shows things like local restaurants and an events calendar. If you are coming into the area, you can click and see where things like tire places and supermarkets are.”
