Plans are progressing for a large playground area at Keizer Rapids Park.

One of the main questions at this point is whether the project will be done this year or next year.

When the idea for an expansive playground was brought to the Keizer Parks and Recreation Advisory Board last month by citizen William Stitt, the idea was to get plans together as quick as possible to apply for grants this spring.

On Jan. 8, Parks Board members talked with representatives from New York-based Play by Design, which has done community-built play structures at parks around the country.

Dave Iannello, co-founder of Play by Design along with Lee Archin, gave rough numbers for how long the process could take.
