Payless ShoeSource closing Keizer store

Payless ShoeSource at Keizer Station is closing.

Customers received a letter in the mail informing them of the closure, and inviting them to a location on Lancaster Drive.

No closing date was noted. A representative for Payless ShoeSource declined comment, saying the firm doesn’t discuss store closures.

According to the website of parent company Collective Brands Inc., the company announced in August plans to close some 475 under-performing and low-volume stores within the next three years, with more than 300 closing by the end of the fiscal year.

Collective Brands reported net losses of $35 million in the second quarter of 2011, despite a 4.9 percent net sales increase to $882.4 million. That included some $83.6 million in charge-offs.
